The Unions are now saying that it is the City of Lake Worth that is refusing to come to the bargaining table when in fact it has been just the reverse. This is a typical tactic when getting prepared for a lawsuit. The Unions are charging that the City has been "unlawful." Can you even imagine anything so ridiculous? If you read the City Manager's Report, you will find the opposite to be true.
From the City Manager's Report:
"During the past week I have had extensive questions regarding the City’s reluctance and unlawful refusal to bargain with its three Labors Unions. On Monday, the City received a letter which was copied to each City Commissioner which was interpreted to mean that the Public Employees Relations Commission’s General Counsel had determined that the City acted unlawfully in refusing to bargain with the IBEW.
In response to the City’s bargaining agent’s collective motion to stay the special magistrate proceedings (which would begin the process of placing this dispute directly before the City Commission for final contract resolution), Labor Attorney Thomas Gonzales, Esq. has submitted to the Public Employees Relations Commission a Consolidated Response to Motions to Stay Special Magistrate Hearing."
