Important items on Tuesday's agenda
On the agenda this Tuesday is an adjustment in the millage that was proposed on July 1 as Lake Worth has now heard from PB County's Property Appraiser's office as well as Fire/Rescue.
6.2416 mils (it was 6.4215 previously)
0.3951 debt service (the same)
6.6367 (total mils that Commission will be approving)
3.4581 fire rescue (3.5785 previously)
10.0948 total in reality
POTENTIAL MOTION:
I MOVE TO APPROVE/DISAPPROVE RESOLUTION NO. -2010 RESCINDING RESOLUTION 16-2010 AND ESTABLISHING THE CITY’S “TENTATIVE” OPERATING MILLAGE AT 6.2416 MILS AND THE DEBT SERVICE MILLAGE RATE AT 0.3951 MILS FOR THE 2010/11 FISCAL YEAR AND SETTING LAKE WORTH’S FIRST PUBIC HEARING ON THE ANNUAL MILLAGE RATE AND BUDGET FOR SEPTEMBER 15TH, 2010 AT 6:00 P.M AT LAKE WORTH CITY HALL.
Another significant matter before the Commission is the matter of monies owed by the various cities for sewer services. The Statute of Limitations runs out on August 12 and in order to preserve our legal right, we have to adopt a conflict resolution per Florida Statutes:
Section 3. It is the intention of the City: (a) to commence court proceedings as permitted under the Act to protect its ability to collect on payment of the Unpaid Obligations; and (b) simultaneously, to initiate the negotiated conflict resolution process provided under the Act, all in order to resolve the conflict specified in Section 2 above. The City identifies each of the Customers, other than the City, as a governmental entity with which the City has a conflict.
