AIDS, an insidious disease

Today is World AIDS day. In 1981, AIDS was first identified in the United States and now the epidemic has spread all across the country. It affects all sectors of our society.

It is thought that more than one million people are living with HIV in the USA and that more than half a million have died after developing AIDS.

The Origin of AIDS

Read about the Compass event last night and its remembrance to those who have fallen victim to AIDS in its annual calling of names of those who have passed. All these friends and neighbors have a legacy; they all have a history; they were all loved by someone.

You can see the quilt at Compass through December 12.
