Brazil’s President Lula da Silva met with President Trump for three hours in the Oval Office on Thursday but you would hardly know it, because Lula canceled the press conference, hightailing it out of the White House and quickly flying back to Brazil.
Let’s be honest: Lula is an old red operator, and Trump has his number. The canceled press conference says plenty.
Lula came to Washington with rare earths in one hand and a trail of ugly questions in the other: Cuba, Iran, Hezbollah-linked networks, narcoterrorism, Brazilian criminal syndicates, and repeated security-protocol concerns.
Trump is not Obama. He is not Biden. He does not get dazzled by leftist theater or diplomatic perfume. If Lula thought a minerals deal could buy silence while Brazil plays footsie with America’s enemies, he walked into the wrong Oval Office. [Luthmann]
Good Night, Patriots!
