Jeff Bezos Said Something on CNBC That Has Democrats Calling Him a Traitor
The Washington Post spent years running hit piece after hit piece on Donald Trump. Now the man who owns it just called Trump right about a lot of things.What Bezos said next on live television is the kind of admission his own former newsroom will never recover from. Jeff Bezos sat down with CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin Wednesday morning and said something you almost never hear from a billionaire in his zip code.
"Trump has lots of good ideas, and he's been right about a lot of things," Bezos said. "You have to give him credit where credit is due."
He wasn't finished. I think he is a more mature, more disciplined version of himself than he was in his first term," Bezos added.
He blocked the Post's presidential endorsement months before the election, telling readers the paper would no longer take sides. He replaced longtime editor Sally Buzbee and directed the newsroom toward what he called fierce independence.
Then in February 2026, he gutted the place – the paper cut between 350 and 375 journalists in a single morning, nearly half the entire newsroom, wiping out the sports section, the books section, the flagship podcast, and most of the foreign bureaus.
