Democrats handed Trump the biggest Electoral College victory in 36 years

Now they're reading the autopsy – and one MSNBC correspondent just told them the problem was they didn't talk enough about transgender children.

That's not a punchline. That's the actual advice being offered on national television in May 2026. The Democratic National Committee finally published its 2024 post-election analysis this week – a document party leaders had been holding since January while they figured out how to manage the fallout.

What it found wasn't complicated: voters left over inflation, the border, and a widening conviction that Democratic leaders had no idea how ordinary Americans live. MSNBC covered the release with a contributor panel.

That's where Daniels – the network's senior Washington correspondent and co-host of The Weekend – stepped in front of the camera with his prescription. The party, he said, needs to "be more comfortable with the idea of power."

High School Students (Ages 13-17): Approximately 3.3% of U.S. teens identify as transgender, according to data from the Williams Institute at UCLA. This estimate translates to about 724,000 youth nationwide.
