Daily Mail got it wrong on the Rescue in Iran

'You sick freaks': Trump White House pummels Daily Mail for astonishing anti-U.S. deception

Publication dismisses accuracy in 'audacious' rescue of missing American airman in Iran

The White House on Sunday pummeled the Daily Mail as "sick freaks" after the British newspaper asserted President Donald Trump's rescue of a missing American colonel in Iran "almost failed and cost dozens of American lives."

"You sick freaks," said Rapid Response 47 on X in the wake of the Daily Mail's post. "No lives were lost because America's warfighters are the most powerful, lethal, and precise fighting force ever known to man. God bless our heroes."

While the Daily Mail originally claimed "dozens of American lives" were lost, the paper has since deleted its post and changed its article to which it was linking from X to read quite differently.

The report by Tom Lawrence now states: "President Trump's audacious extraction of a US airman came agonisingly close to being a disaster but is being hailed as the most audacious special forces raid in American history.

"The remaining weapons systems officer hiked through the mountains while evading Iranian search parties and using his rescue beacon sparingly – before he was eventually located by the CIA. We have rescued the seriously wounded, and really brave, F-15 Crew Member/Officer, from deep inside the mountains of Iran," Trump said Sunday morning on Truth Social."

"The Iranian Military was looking hard, in big numbers, and getting close. He is a highly respected Colonel. This type of raid is seldom attempted because of the danger to 'man and equipment.' It just doesn't happen!"

He continued: "At my direction, the U.S. Military sent dozens of aircraft, armed with the most lethal weapons in the World, to retrieve him. He sustained injuries, but he will be just fine.
