Tyranical governments and Alexei Navalny

Russian opposition leader Navalny's team finally locates him in remote prison colony after 20-day search

Alexei Navalny's team lost contact with him a week before his scheduled Dec 5 court appearance.

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny’s team has announced that they have found him in a Siberian penal colony following a weekslong search.

"We found Alexei Navalny," spokesperson Kira Yarmysh announced on Christmas Day, the BBC reported. Yarmysh added that Navalny’s lawyer was able to meet with him.

Yarmysh announced the update on Telegram, where she clarified that Navalny, 47, had been moved to the IK-3 penal colony, also known as "Polar Wolf," in Kharp in the Yamalo-Nenets district in Northern Russia.

Navalny has stood as the most significant opposition to Russian President Vladimir Putin in recent years, leading to an assassination attempt in 2020 when Navalny suffered poisoning from a suspected Novichok nerve agent. He remained in a coma for several weeks while doctors in Germany fought to keep him alive.

Navalny returned to Russia in 2021, when authorities immediately arrested him and later sentenced him to 19 years in prison on extremism charges. His team has repeatedly raised concerns about his treatment following his return.

In Russia, Putin tries to assassinate the opposition and then throws him in prison. Here in the U.S.A., they go on a witch hunt and charge the opposition with anything hoping something will stick and attempt to bankrupt him. They even have a judge that declared him guilty before a trial even began. Can you imagine if you were not wealthy trying to defend your life against false charges with corrupt Democrat politicians and judges in charge ?

Navalny has put himself in this position. He has accomplished nothing except for keeping his name in the news.

All of the ills of Putin and Russia are well-known, in fact they are lore.

What is the point of Martyrdom?

He supposedly was running against Putin. Why do you call this "martyrdom?" Putin went after him just like Biden is going after Trump. The difference is that Putin tried to kill him and then threw him in prison. Lies and BS and indictments. He was just motivated to defeat corruption in Russia.

Well, he failed miserably!

There is nothing he did or said that makes any difference to Russia and the Russian people.

Which I believe I stated in my previously post.

Russia is Russia; we should try to get over it. They have their country, and their leadership, and we have ours.

Our government has an obsession with Russia, and an obsession is a mental illness.

Russia is an enemy...no obsession...just the fact of the matter. Over 70% of global citizens see Russia as a threat to the world after more than a year of the country’s war with Ukraine.
People who stand up for democracy get my respect like alexei. Russia is a global threat.

I don't think your respect will keep him warm where he is.

Did they threaten us? Not since Kruschev, that I can recall. Pay attention to your own backyard, and let the Russians worry about Putin.

Russia is a nuclear power and they have threatened us. What was said--Russia has the might to put all of our brash enemies in their place...U.S.A being one of them.

Well, so what can you do?

Russians are brilliant you don’t understand how intelligent they are probably the smartest people in the whole world gave us ballet, chess masters, classical music, indoor plumbing , they will destroy the west you will see!

Not if they have God in them, then they would know better.

Yes, 9:33, they are brilliant. Also the Chinese are brilliant.

The softer, the easier your life is, the stupider you get. Our lives have become decadent, due to our inability to say no to ourselves and our children.

People are stupid by nature, and they have to become smart and strong through discipline. Absent discipline, we are not much more than a husk of corn.

Think about a cornfield sometime. Watch it from seed to withering husk. Not much different than humans.

The difference is in between, when we could do something of value, but choose to take the route of a cornstalk.
