Lake Worth Beach City Manager Fired

Lake Worth Beach Commission fires City Manager Carmen Davis

She was hired in September 2021

The Lake Worth Beach City Council on Monday fired City Manager Carmen Davis, who was hired two years ago.

During a specially scheduled meeting to evaluate her two-year performance, the council voted 3-2 to terminate her.

Voting to remove her were Vice Mayor Christopher McCoy of District 2, Commissioner Kim Stokes of District 3 and Commissioner Reinaldo Díaz of District 4. Voting against the measure were Mayor Betty Resch and Commissioner Sarah Malega of District 1.

Jamie Brown, the city's public works director, will serve as interim city manager.

After witnessing the ambush of city manager Carmen Davis last night, I am appalled. The blatant disregard of human dignity and selfishness was horrifying.
I promise to bring decorum, civility, and kindness to the dais. I promise to make decisions based on what’s best for the city as a whole. There will be times that I have to make tough decisions but I will make them in the sunshine and with proper public notification.
I will answer all of your calls and emails. I will be available to attend meetings and events. I will be responsible for educating myself about each issue and follow through with well thought out actions. I will not govern in a vacuum, refusing to acknowledge that I am a servant.
Please reach out to me. Get to know me. Come to an event. Donate. Knock on doors. I need you!
The future of OUR city depends on it.

If the reasons stated for her dismissal are accurate, they did the right thing.

I hear they are hiring at the University of Pennsylvania.

The process they went through to hire this manager was patently absurd. Also, the amount of notice she gave to her old job was ridiculous.

If Jamie knows the city and can do the job, why not keep him. This isn't New York City. It's just a little town.

Ignoring direction from a majority of commissioners, pulling political strings for Malega and Resch, terrible handling of the Bennies debacle, protecting a very problematic utilities director, encouraging an investigation of a commissioner who called her out for terrorizing vulnerable groups in our city on behalf of the mayor and Malega. Should have fired her 6 months ago.
Pay attention Mimi, try to keep up.

This commission of mcVoy, Stokes and Diaz did a revolting thing and right before Christmas! WOW. Merry Christmas Carmen! Stokes doesn't believe in Christmas anyway.

@11:31...this firing was ALL political. Disappointed in Christopher, Kimberly and Reinaldo.
It was not on the agenda to fire the city manager. They had the audacity of changing the agenda and voting to place it on the agenda to fire Carmen Davis last night.
All those harping on one subject was a well coordinated effort with politicos behind the scenes--really lame. There were reasons why Head Start was evicted from our city and it lies totally on that organization not renewing their lease.

Yes, Merry Christmas to Ms. Davis. What a travesty the way this was handled. I hope everyone remembers in their districts at voting time how these people handled this situation.

Everything is Political, Lynn. Who would know that better than you?

!1:13...basically that is true and it all begins at the local level. Time to remove socialists.

The 3 stooges need to be removed!!!

Why is nobody starting a recall notice?

They are ruining the city quicker than Biden is ruining the country.

Damn dumpstercrats.

The city doesn't need a Manager, it needs an Administrator.

Someone who can get things done. Someone who knows and understands every department and can make it operate efficiently.

The city doesn't need a Manager, who is basically just a Figurehead.

I don't like to see anyone lose their job, especially at Christmastime, but I'm sure she is getting a severance package that will see her through the Holidays.

Mimi, I think your time has come and gone.

I knew during the hiring process of the now, former Manager, that something was horribly wrong.

I'm just guessing now, but I think the length of the negotiation had something to do with the impossibly large salary and benefits package being offered.

@6:26...it was mentioned she gets 5 months severance. However, she moved her entire family here. It was a terrible thing to fire her.

Socialist commissioners running our city.

Maybe we can have Bornstein back, and Carmen can go to Palm Springs.

She lost her job due to a conflict of interests between the Commissioners and the Mayor. A perfectly legitimate reason to be dismissed.
