Author unfairly attacks Lake Worth for Discrimination

"Lake Worth’s new commissioners must end discriminatory practices"

That is the title of the biggest piece of horse sh*t that I have read in a very long time. This writer references what he believes happened in 2006, 15 years ago, about treating illegals/immigrants less than human in the City of Lake Worth and decides to promote his false discriminatory narrative against our city just to be acknowledged as a "journalist" investigating and exposing racism. Big Whoopie!

Perhaps he will get an Emmy like Andrew Coumo...for lies and BS. Lake Worth is a "Welcoming City."

The time he references was during the years Marc Drautz was mayor--one of the liberal guys who was married to a woman of color. This supposed attack of immigrants never happened. And Omari Hardy is still stirring the pot of false racism. Thank God that guy is no longer in this city.

At the time, Drautz said he planned to meet with the code enforcement staff. He wanted them to crack down on slum landlords and vacant properties, while still employing a "personal touch" to make sure the city treats residents fairly.

Read the crap

The new Commission for some reason believes that our code department goes after poor folks as a policy because it's easier to extort money from them. This is liberal drivel. We have a lot of code violations in our city--just drive around. We have so many transients and rentals that violations occur more often within these properties. It has nothing to do with what nationality resides there.

It's just going to get worse now that socialists were elected.

I read THE ARTICLE. It's just more liberal tripe. Yes, we have a code enforcement problem in our town. And yes, most of the problems are occurring in rental houses where an abundance of immigrants live. So clean it up and stop the racism as the excuse for everything.

To allow the immigrants or poor to live in such horrible conditions is racist at best. The white folks are held to certain standards, and the people of any color should also. As we drive past (even the trailer park Stokes references in the past meeting), many of the windows are covered in plywood. Isnt that a fire hazard? What about running an extension cord to a storage shed, where people are living?

But she said they are being picked on because everyone else is mean. Seems the landlords should be held accountable to give these immigrants (even illegal immigrants) a safe place to live. SAFE!

Everything is "racist" with you people. People have to be responsible and live within our laws. If not, they will be "coded." These people own their mobile homes. It is up to them and the park management to ensure that they do just that just like it is up to the property owners who lease their houses to ensure there are no violations on their property or they should be coded.
Stop encouraging ILLEGALS TO come to our city. You like diversity so much? Poor people may be poor but they know the difference in right and wrong or when they are breaking an ordinance or law.
Each person is accountable for his own actions, not the other guy. The Mobile Home Park must have standards that meet our laws. If not, fine them until the problems are fixed. They can't rent the lots to people breaking laws.

It's very difficult to get landlords to comply. The laws get in the way. Many landlords are not even living in Florida. Some landlords are not even alive anymore, and an Estate Attorney is handling, the rentals. Even foreclosures can take years, while the property just continues to deteriorate.

Immigrants and the poor can learn to keep their property in order. That would be something to take up with the city. There are probably people who would love to hold training classes to teach simple up-keep to immigrants. Just ignoring these people and expecting them to do something with nothing is no longer practical.

Poor shouldn't equal slob, anyone can paint, sweep and pick up. A nicely renovated apartment building turned to a mess when it was filled with illegals. They put garbage in the recycle bins, recycle wouldn't pick it up, so the bins overflowed on the ground. This affected an owner community behind it and many complaints were ignored by the city, the health dept and the slum landlord who lives in Boynton. Neighbor had to place a wooden fence to cover it. How can people live like that? Here for a better life? Don't wreck what little we have.

Your first sentence is obviously correct, and nobody could argue with that statement.

Beyond that, we know very little. Who are these people? Are they immigrants?

Many people who are neither poor nor immigrants put garbage in the recycle bins. People throw trash out of the window of their cars. Is it because they are poor?

We live in a world, where we either pick up after people, pay someone to pick up after people, or live like pigs ourselves.

Some things never change. That doesn't mean you stop trying.

People can be educated to do better. We've given up on that aspect of the problem.

It hasn't helped that since pipe bombs and pressure cooker explosives, most of the receptacles for refuse have been removed.

7:38 this was eye witnessed by myself and these people are Central Americans. Highly possible it was due to ignorance but anyone could see it was a hazardous filthy mess and be disturbed by it. True that people of all types can be careless but this was what was seen. The neighboring property is diverse in age and population and neat. No one in that area is rich.
