Am I still pis*ed? Yeah. The name of our city was changed by 62 votes. 1,414 residents (we have close to 17,000 registered voters in Lake Worth) voted for the name change and the city manager interfered the night before the election appearing on WPBF to advocate for it. Not only is it his fault, it is the fault of this lame commission. They had this important election at a time few people vote and consequently a bigger chance of pulling it off.
Postal puzzle: So did Lake Worth Beach really erase Lake Worth? Sort of... but not really
Kevin D. Thompson writes about the stupidity of changing the name of our city.
Read about it...and some of the comments of residents.

It's not too late to change it back! That would be the smart thing to do. After awhile, it will just seem like a bad dream.
Just imagine if more people had actually voted to keep the old name but the new name won...imagine how unfair that would have been.
It's so stupid I can't even think about it. I will always call it Lake Worth.
I voted against it also but I find flaws in your logic. If all 17,000 voters voted and the percentage was the same, the name would still be changed. Who's to say that if more people voted, the outcome would be different. In my house, I voted against and my better half voted for it.
@5:38--that was not my point.
To have only a very small number of people with that much power to change the name of our city and its history over 106 years is my problem with it.
Who knows what the outcome might have been if more people had known about it, thought about it, and cared about the historical significance of the name.
If more people voted to keep the old name, but the new name won, then either this is an incomplete thought, or the vote would have been rigged in some way. Just Speculating.
no one cares about the historical significance of an area only so called historic areas to bump up the value of their houses things will never change in this town because all there is is talk.no one has the guts to challenge these jerks.
It's simple--7:27 gets it right--no one cared enough to get out and vote to preserve our history but they go gaga over a certain type roof or window that you can install if you live in an historic district. Makes perfect sense to me, right? :(
TERM LIMITS IS THE ANSWER
Is it raining outside or is it the loosers crying again?
The losers are the ones who changed the name of the city. Now it sounds like the mobile home park that Ocean Breeze is one of the streets belonging to. It all fits together now. Learn to spell loser!
