Lake Worth Casino
Apparently, there are no current plans for the Lake Worth Casino property that divides the South End in half. We will keep watch on the situation with help from the Town.

John, Thank you for your email regarding the plans for the LW Beach Casino. The City is in the middle of an Invitation To Negotiate (ITN) process which is most likely that to which you are referring. I am copying you on that document which outlines the options that the City is interested in resolving. It is my hope that the City Commission will receive a recommendation(s) from the ITN Committee by April. The Commission will then work through the process of choosing the best proposal(s) for contacts. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let me know. Michael

The Commission will next meet on April 21. You indicated that you hope to receive recommendation(s) from the ITN Committee by April. Has anything occurred since we last communicated?

John, The ITN Committee held their meeting last week and is recommending the Commission further negotiate with restaurant proposer but for a higher lease amount. Their report will be made to the Commission at the May 19th Commission meeting at which time the various options available to the Commission will be explained. At this point, the ITN Committee has fulfilled its part in the process and will cease to exist after making the report. The ball will then be in the Commission's court and pending their decision/direction I do not have anything to offer with certainty. Michael

Hey John, The Commission at its last meeting indicated that they wanted to hear all three proposals themselves. We are in the process of finding a date as you can imagine is difficult at best with budget, vacations and regular meetings. Hi John, At last night's Commission meeting, the Commission voted 5-0 to not accept any offers for businesses at the Casino/Pool until the Commission and the community decide exactly what is appropriate. Therefore, nothing is planned or happening in the near future. I am regrouping with staff to determine how to move forward. The Beach Fund is not financially sustainable and we need to fill the upstairs space at the Casino and address the losses associated with the Pool. Additionally, there is no plan nor money for the capital needs such as the missing office space and storage necessary to operate the facility. Ugh. Michael

Borenstein's last email sums it all up in plain English. Perhaps our friends on the island or maybe Donald Trump can offer up a tenant to rent out the upstairs Casino space - maybe they wouls love some upscale beachfront offices and we can rent to them for $25 per sq ft plus the CAM
Please tell me that our CM did not use the word "ugh" in his email to an official in a neighboring town?
If he did . . . really, how unprofessional. He sounds like a stupid teenager unfit to represent us in any capacity.
