Blood from a Turnip

"Chances are you will pay more in property taxes this year unless Palm Beach County, the School Board, your town or any other taxing district where you live reduces their tax rates," so says The Palm Beach Post.

Well guess what?  Lake Worth's management has recommended that it keep the same rate as last year--no roll-back rate.  This means that most all of you will be paying more in ad-valorem. All you guys with non-homesteaded properties are really screwed. However, on non-homesteaded property, they can only go up to a max of 10% this year but it doesn't apply to the School Board that can be 15%. If other taxing districts go up, you pay that increased tax as well.

We already know that the city of Lake Worth needs all the money it can extract...if it could squeeze blood from a turnip, it would. Usually, you can get from people what they are willing to give. In this case, if you can't/don't/won't pay, you could lose your property.

Thnik about that when you vote on August 26th.
