The mayor says she wants higher buildings to attract a hotelier and this would bring jobs to Lake Worth. That's a great political line and it sounds good when you are being interviewed by the Press--but it is meaningless. We all know that hotels only attract the low-end on the wage scale: kitchen helpers, laundry workers and those who clean the rooms. And how many more of these minimum wage jobs would be created by building 2 stories higher? Jobs is only an excuse to allow developers to get their hands on our prime downtown.
Ozzie and Susan love Lake Worth and they love the Gulfstream Hotel, as do all of us. Vote YES on Amendment 2 on Tuesday.
