American Flag to fly at full-staff at Capitol on Inauguration Day

Speaker Johnson: Capitol flags will fly full-staff at Trump inauguration

CV NEWS FEED // House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-LA, announced Tuesday that U.S. Capitol Building flags will fly full-staff at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Johnson’s decision conflicts with outgoing President Joe Biden’s order that American flags on “all public buildings and grounds” remain at half-staff “for a period of 30 days” following the passing of late President Jimmy Carter last month. Biden’s order will expire on Jan. 28 – eight days after Trump’s inauguration.

“On January 20th, the flags at the Capitol will fly at full-staff to celebrate our country coming together behind the inauguration of our 47th President, Donald Trump,” the speaker wrote on X (formerly Twitter) Tuesday morning.

He added that the “flags will be lowered back to half-staff the following day to continue honoring President Jimmy Carter.” [catholicvote.org]

Yay! But they're going to raise it the next day? Boo. Jimmy Carter was a despicable scumbag next to Trump. Trump thinks of no one but others when he governs where as Carter it was all about me, me, me. And that whole play acting stuff when he build single family homes for the poor? Ha. Trump builds huge hotels and condos for the most important people in the world! When you have money, you are a success! Leave the flag up, please.

30 days is too long. I don't care who it is. 15 days', 2 weeks would suffice.

Don't get carried away 3:47. It's a standard. Nothing to do with Jimmie Carter. I personally think 10 days would be sufficient, but I don't make the rules. Anyway, it's not the hill I want to die on.
Just let everything go well, on Monday, and we'll move on from there.
