Remember a couple of years ago, when the message of the petty tyrants and their supporters was, “It’s a private company, they can do whatever they want!” any time someone got booted off social media for stepping outside the approved narrative?
The loudest voices were cheering on Big Tech’s decisions to silence whoever didn’t toe the line, because, well, those decisions elevated their voices and neatly disappeared any challenge to their insanity.
But now, with Elon Musk opening X to a broader range of perspectives—truly offering a place for a free exchange of ideas—the tune has changed.
Suddenly, those same voices are saying that free speech is an “unmitigated disaster” and that we need “aggressive government regulation” of speech platforms.
Funny how that works, isn’t it?
