Congress must cut the pork from this "Covid Relief" bill

Millions Lost Benefits as Congress Failed to Meet Trump Demand for $2,000 Stimulus Checks

The president surprised Congress on Dec. 22 with a video announcement deriding the $2.3 trillion omnibus spending bill for its “wasteful” provisions for foreign governments and demanded more money for American taxpayers.

Top Democrats backed Trump’s demand for $2,000 checks but ignored his demands to cast other spending items from the bill, such as $10 million for gender programs in Pakistan. The bill failed to pass with unanimous consent after lawmakers on both sides of the aisle voiced grievances.

It's a total disgrace that taxpayer money was approved by Congress to send to foreign countries.

Read about it... There is still time to fund our government as December 29 is the deadline. It's easy to dole out taxpayer money even to our enemies. What the hell is wrong with Congress?

“It’s called the COVID Relief Bill, but it has almost nothing to do with COVID,” Trump said. “This bill contains $85.5 million for assistance to Cambodia, $134 million to Burma, $1.3 billion for Egypt and the Egyptian military, which will go out and buy almost exclusively Russian military equipment. $25 million for democracy and gender programs in Pakistan, $505 million to Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. $40 million for the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, which is not even open for business. $1 billion for the Smithsonian and an additional $154 million for the National Gallery of Art. Likewise, these facilities are essentially not open.”

Obviously, this was written before Trump signed the bill last night.
