Our Small Town Charm - Lake Worth

There are always commissioners and/or administrations that want to change the "flavor" of our city, a term that former Commissioner Christopher McVoy used to say.

Commissioner Omari Hardy, who has announced that he will be running for the Florida State Legislature and therefore not seeking reelection in Lake Worth says, “If we’re going to be a 7-mile city, we need to get the most out of it.” In other words, he wants to grow the city through development and building higher. He went to school in Miami and lived in Ft. Lauderdale. He likes heights and believes that is the solution to Lake Worth's financial stability.

But to reiterate once again, our referendum meant something to all of us voters when we passed it on a 56% vote only 6 years ago--keep the downtown at 45 feet. "The city passed a referendum to keep height down in 2013, said Lynn Anderson. “You wanna go high and the people keep telling you we don’t want a high-rise,” Anderson said. “We don’t want Delray Beach or West Palm.” “We want small-town charm.”
