Bud Greene pursuing lawsuit with City of Lake Worth

Bud Greene, a former code enforcement board member, is from one of Lake Worth's Pioneer families.  His grandfather owned a lumber yard where All County Funeral Home is now located. He has been suing the City of Lake Worth for what he considers illegal operations as well as obnoxious noise coming from a neighbors' property next door. "It's the principle," he says.

His suit against the City of Lake Worth claims his neighbor has an illegal rental in his neighborhood where he has lived for 58 years.. The property is at 211 N. M Street where he states that the owner rents out a garage as a dwelling. He says that is illegal.

It has cost him $12,000 to date with the bottom line being--you can't fight city hall.  According to his attorney, if the city doesn't want to enforce its code laws, it doesn't have to.  How about them apples?

Was the garage illegally converted to a residence with a bathroom, kitchen? Or did the owner have permits? I would guess not.

That's why the city looks like crap. They only enforce if they want to? Really?

They gave Ryan Maier a hard time on trumped up charges by Jessica Teutsch. it was all political. Maier did the right thing--did not run for a 2nd term.

The mayor is too busy with her tv show and doesn't live in that neighborhood anyway.

God bless Bud Greene! He is a real trooper for the City of Lake Worth. He was born at 225 N D St he told me. He said even when he was born there were problem in this city and that area was bad and never allowed to improve. He served on an Adhoc Code Enforcement Board with me, and he was wonderful as well as Lorreta Sharpe. He cares. Many years ago, the city did the same thing to the Dale's at the 400 block of North D Street. They had so many problems with drug dealers, prostitutes and crime, they even let the city and cops do surveillance inside their house to catch the bad guys, they cared and their family owned and lived their for years. They city turned on them when they continued to be persistent about all the problems on D Street with crime and drugs, they started targeting them and citing them for things, until finally the Dale's got fed up with it and sold and moved out of the city like I did. The city never wants to address the real problems, they turn on the good people who live here. Bud cares, like many of us did, the Dale's did and I did, but you reach a breaking point. I give Bud a lot of credit for staying on top of this. It is sad that the City of Lake Worth does not stay on the side of the good guy. It has gone to hell and with these current elected, it is worse and the elected are making huge salaries off the good people, a real sin, stealing from the citizens. God bless you Bud, I hope this matter gets resolved and you find peace.
