Ghana and its Anti-LGBTQ bill

Ghana poised to vote on ‘worst anti-LGBTQ bill ever,’ advocates warn

When I read this, I thought it was shocking that this was going on in the 21st Century but 70 countries in the world still criminalize LGBT+ sexual acts between adults.

Ghana: Under the draft bill, identifying as gay could result in a 5-year prison sentence, while advocating for LGBTQ rights could be punishable by up to 10 years behind bars.

"The House wants to state without equivocation that throughout history, nowhere does the Ghanaian culture subscribe to LGBTQI which is a taboo, inhuman and alien to our society ...In God's wisdom, man and woman were created to fulfill the procreation of humans on earth to satisfy God's will...The symbolism for sex [and] marriage was between man and woman, as such, the idea of man marrying man and woman marrying woman is an abomination to our tradition and culture as Ghanaians ...".

Despite the Ghana Constitution guaranteeing a right to freedom of speech, expression and assembly to Ghanaian citizens, these fundamental rights are actively denied to LGBT people. [wikipedia]

I'm not going to lose any sleep over this Lynn.

Remember the policy from the Clinton era: "Don't ask, don't tell"!

It's the only policy that makes sense.
