Is English Florida's official Language?

Judge Orders Florida Election Officials to Offer Ballots Printed in Spanish

The citizens of Florida amended our state constitution in 1988 regarding its official language...English.

Amendment 11 established English as the official state language. It was approved by 83.87% of the 4,121.900 votes cast.

As I recall, one of the purposes was to save millions in printing costs throughout the state not to mention that we are an English speaking nation and our Constitution requires that everyone wanting naturalization must have an understanding of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.

Measure 11 was the fifth citizen-initiated proposed amendment to appear on a Florida statewide ballot. Text of measure Amendment 11's ballot summary was: Establishes English as the official language of the State of Florida. Enables the legislature to implement this article by appropriate legislation.

The Voting Rights Act requires it. Right your congressional representative and tell him or her you want it reversed.

Until it's reversed, however, it is a law that must be followed.

Why would I do that, @4:35. I believe that English should be the official language of the United States.

@3:50--if you are a citizen of this country you need to have some understanding of speaking English and be able to read and write English. That's a fact.
We should listen to all you liberal illegal alien lovers who want open borders? I'm proud of our country...why aren't you?

A common language binds us together.

Some might say that citizens should also know the laws and the history of this country.

The Voting Rights Act is a law. Look it up and learn.

When does Fed Law Trump State if it's not a specifically enumerated (numbered) as their responsibility. Wasn't that the fuss when the feds wanted the states voting info? I looked it up and would like to learn but If you can't show me in the Constitution where the fed even has the authority- then the 9th/10th amendment says it's the states job!
