With the commission's direction and insistence with the passing of Ordinance 2013-40 to reduce Lake Worth's electric rates to parity FPL, rates will be on the Agenda on September 12. However, we were told by Utility Financial Solutions that without significant reductions in the costs of operations and increases to the general fund contributions, the proposed 4.5% reduction will not be sustainable after 2014.
City staff has made cost reducing changes to the operations of the electric utility establishing the following rates for 2014:.
- Residential (includes 1.4% Conservation charge reduction) 11.40%
- Commercial General 12.20%
- Commercial Demand 17.00%

How come no bitching from Mrs. Sharpe and Mr. Rice. They think our city can run on fumes.
