Barry's T's

Comment Up

You can buy this T-shirt at the Lake Worth Beach T-Shirt Company at the Lake Worth Casino.

I wore my shirt last night and several people asked me what it meant. I had to have someone explain it to me. This is right out of the mouth of Christopher:

Lake Worth = LW
LW spelled out = el double-u
"el double-u" abbreviated = L Dub

L is, well, L. Double-u becomes Dub. L-Dub.
We live in the L-Dub. Get it ? ; )

I am much more concerned about the xenophobic "Locals Only" - guess that would explain a lot of the City Commission's guiding principles.

I saw a couple of people sporting the L-dub shirts this weekend at the Reggae Fest, and I loved them! Thanks for letting me know where they're available :)

Urban history lesson people not that I think it will help but here goes anyway.

Several of the definitions of the word DUB in the urban dictionary
www.urbandictionary.com

1. dub - n. an automobile wheel measuring twenty inches in diameter.

2. dub - "double dime". meaning $20 (usually of drugs).

This is gang created slang for Lake Worth. I asked a Deputy about this word and he told me that drug dealers also use this word as code for a $20 piece of crack Let's call our City by it's proper name.

We have lightened up too much in this City and here we are now suffering the consequences.

Someone, somewhere is giving away ignorance and some people in this city have seemed to gotten on line multiple times for more than their fair share of this affliction.

Best Wishes,

This is a take on George W. Bush and his nickname of G-Dub that then went to Dubya. It is all that simple. Nothing to to with gangsters here as it was the letter "G" that meant George and some political foes said it meant gangster. The DUB was just a take on his middle initial.
