California's Billionaire Tax fails at ballot box

Dave Regan stands as California’s clearest election loser after SEIU burns tens of millions on a crushed billionaire tax

SEIU healthcare union boss Dave Regan poured tens of millions in member dues into a California billionaire tax that voters crushed, leaving his own future hanging in the balance.

By the end of Tuesday night, California voters had rejected Proposition 40, the one-time tax on state billionaires, with almost 56% opposed. They crushed the companion measure, Proposition 44, by 82%, a 63-point drubbing for the labor-backed drive.

At the center of both losses sat Dave Regan, president of SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West. His union and its committees spent tens of millions of members’ dues on the fight, only to watch the ballot campaign collapse under a wave of opposition that included fellow Democrats and some of the state’s largest progressive groups.

The California Post reported that the contest over three connected state ballot measures became a nearly $400 million war. Regan’s side lost the public argument and the money fight at the same time.

Well I do have to give their governor some credit I'm glad that he commuted the sentences of all the death row inmates the 500 plus people I don't agree with the death penalty or abortion or euthanasia I am pro-life and I live a life for God and I do not like that, and I'm glad that newsom did this although I don't care for Democrats at all the demonic things they do and how they push so much abortion and killing babies yet they want to save rescue dogs I just don't like that I think it's so ironic! Anyway I guess people woke up and realized that if they're going to over tax all the rich people in their state the rich people are just going to leave the state so maybe some people thought about it a little bit anyway! Got brains? got Jesus?
