Boston federal judge blocks Trump administration's push to collect race-based college admissions data

A federal judge in Boston granted a preliminary injunction Friday temporarily barring the Trump administration from forcing public colleges in 17 Democrat-led states to submit detailed admissions data broken down by race and sex, a move the administration says is necessary to enforce the Supreme Court's 2023 ban on affirmative action, as Fox News Digital reported.

U.S. District Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV sided with a coalition of 17 Democratic state attorneys general who sued to stop the reporting requirements. He called the administration's rollout "rushed and chaotic" and said it "epitomizes arbitrary and capricious agency action."

The ruling is the latest in a growing string of federal court orders halting Trump administration initiatives at the request of Democratic officials, a pattern that raises serious questions about whether the judiciary is being weaponized as a policy veto by state attorneys general who lost at the ballot box.
