At Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) questioned Andre B. Mathis, nominee to be United States Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit.
Democrats are really hung up on racism. If you are not White, you have a better chance of being chosen for just about anything.
"Memphian Andre Mathis' nomination to be a federal judge on the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals advanced from the U.S. Senate judiciary committee Thursday.
Mathis, a partner at Memphis firm Butler Snow, was nominated last year. He would become the first Black man and the second Black person to sit on the 6th circuit from Tennessee. He attended the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law."
The FBI background investigation revealed Mathis had his driver's license suspended on three occasions due to driving-related citations.
His nomination now proceeds to the full Senate.
