Last call for Lake Worth Beach utility customers with unpaid accounts

Customers of Lake Worth Beach’s utility company with unpaid accounts got a two-week extension to pay their bills or get on the payment plan. Disconnections were slated to begin on July 17, but the city commission agreed Tuesday to effectively lengthen the moratorium on shutoffs as a result of the coronavirus pandemic  through the end of July.

As of Jun 30, there were 1,963 accounts that were past-due. This equated to nearly $1 million.

The Commission on a 4/1 vote rejected a proposal by Commissioner Omari Hardy that would have extended the freeze on disconnects beyond July.
