Life is a Beach

Will our Beach be Opened?

There are some on the commission who feel opening up anything at this time is too soon because of Covid-19. Even Scott Maxwell, who never goes to the beach, has been wearing a mask during the virtual commission meetings with no one around him! Omari Hardy wants us all to be confined at home (especially old people :) and has little sympathy for our businesses that had to close. At least that's what it sounds like.

The virus does not linger in the air at high enough levels to be a risk to most people. And if we can believe the WHO, Coronavirus cannot travel very far in the air. So, why not open our beach and still have social distancing?

As of yesterday, there were 119 cases in Lake Worth (Beach) out of 37,000 people.
119 is 0.32162162162162% of 37000 who have tested positive.

Hopefully, Palm Beach County will allow the reopening of our beaches and that the State of Florida gives this directive as well. The city manager has said that the city can revert to the state's directive if different/more stringent than Palm Beach County, something commissioner Hardy advocates.
