Major Power Outage

I awoke at 1am with no power. It was startling and pitch black. Now I sort of know what a blind person feels.

From Palm Beach Alerts:

Multiple reports that approx 85% of the City of Lake Worth is w/o power currently, Lake Worth-Utilities is reporting approx 26,500 customers affected, Also FPL is reporting approx 15,575 without power from Lantana south to Delray, lines down & transformers blown, and PBCFR units are out with a powerlines down call also at Hypoluxo/I-95, unknown cause for these power issues currently but please remain calm & cautious! Fire Dept agencies will still be responding to calls for service! Use extreme caution in the area!

My power came back on around 2:30.

Lake Worth has long known about how our one tie-in to FPL's transmission lines at Hypoluxo and I-95 could have adverse affects on our power reliability. We need another tie-in at another location. It was still gratifying to know that when the inevitable happens, we can still fire up the old generators, inefficient as they may be to get the lights back on.

Does anyone know what caused it?
