Last night, the United States, along with France and the United Kingdom, retaliated against Bashar al-Assad for his unconscionable, barbaric gassing of his own people.
President Bashar al-Assad has been backed by Russia, Iran, Shi’ite groups including Lebanon’s Hezbollah. Advanced warning was given to Russia by the United States who alerted them to the attack; they evacuated and then retaliated by shooting down 1/3rd of the missiles that were fired against them.
President Trump did not stop Assad last year and experts say it won't stop him now. It's all symbolic as the U.S. does not want an all out war and Russia knows it.
Russia has been denying the gassing and now is "calling an emergency session of the UN Security Council to
discuss the aggressive actions of the US and its allies," the Kremlin
said in a statement.

You should be happy now Lynn; your blood-lust has been partially sated. Don't worry, I'm sure there will be a second act.
My "blood-lust"?
You, liberal Democrat and Trump hater, just got it azz backwards once again.
It is the blood-lust of Syria supported by our enemies, Iran and Russia.
I'm just surprised as hell that the same people who compared Syrian refugees to a bowl of Skittles not too long ago are now deciding it's worth spending tens of millions of dollars to save them.
Who knew?
It was a metaphor giving an example of allowing refugees into our country where some would be enemies of our country with the intent of doing us harm. Trump wants to vet them. We were faced with a blind selection process in which a few potentially poisoned pieces would be lurking among the thousands of Syrians fleeing a brutal five-year-old civil war.
Human lives are worth saving from being gassed and dying a horrible death. Most civil people would agree to that and would not be worrying about the $$$$ during something this horrendous.
No more empty red lines in the sand. Trump wants to get our people out of Syria. That's why many think there was something fishy about this gas attack. Trump signals he wants to get out of Syria and right on cue-gas attack. Regardless, this was a very measured, targeted response that also involved the UK and France.Vast changes have happened for the good in that region since Trump was put in office by the American people.Trump is right about wanting friendly ,productive relationships with our fellow nations whenever possible. And that includes Russia, much to the mainstream media's horror.
Wag the Dog!
I still want to see the proof and the intel on this strike...only because I am sceptical by nature.
This attack had very little to do with Syria, and more to do with backing Putin down and showing him that the US is still the big dog in the world and we finally have a President who is unafraid to pull the trigger. Yes, the newsprint will say we attacked a chemical plant, but al-Assad and Putin now know that there is a red line drawn in the sand and we will enforce it. Notice that all Russian war ships retreated to the Mediterranean prior to the attack and that no missile defense was deployed until after the attack had been completed.
I congratulate the President on the foresight to use a little military muscle to calm down the rhetoric being thrown across the Pacific between Russia and the US. We can all live in peace, but we must be prepared to use our might if needed. This attack showed resolve and Nicki Haley telling the UN general assembly that we are locked and loaded sends a similar message
Mission Accomplished! Lol
Larry, you certainly put together two nice paragraphs, laying it all out for those of who can't string two sentences together; but don't you think it is a bit simplistic to overlook (in your concise explanation) some background information, such as the fact that nobody cares a wit about Syria, and that this is really about Iran and Russia, and the fact that (MBS) was here last month, and isn't he really a Sunni, and aren't the Iranians (Shia), and didn't we just sell billions in weapons systems to the Saudis, and after all, they just want a little something in return. Your little catch phrases like (Big Dog) or (Locked and Loaded) really have no meaning outside of a movie script with Brad Pitt. But for all that, you really do get an A for typing. Next time, do a little research.
