Les Evans arrested
Attorney Leslie Evans has always been a friend to a certain segment in the City of Lake Worth. Do you remember when he was involved in the L Street Parking Lot?
Here's a short recap of that bad city transaction: Cory O'Gorman, former Director of the CRA, presented the parking lot to Leslie Evans. The City of Lake Worth sold this property in March 2005 to Evans, an attorney, and friend of the R&R's (Ramiccio and Romano). Why would anyone sell a downtown parking lot?
They hurried to get the Contract signed one day before citizens were to vote on a charter amendment initiated by Laurence Mcnamara and a few others that would require voter approval for the sale of parks, downtown property and waterfront land west of State Road A1A. This was corruption beyond anything experienced before in the city. Six months before in September 2004, the Commission did everything within its creative power and then some to get the initiative off the ballot, violating their own rules some say as well as Sunshine Laws, canceling the 2nd hearing using the excuse of Hurricane Frances.
Well that was then and this is now...Evans has been arrested for 8 counts of wire fraud, one count of bank fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and 10 counts of illegal monetary transactions.
All these characters find Lake Worth...think Peter Willard and the Greater Bay fiasco and Cory O'Gorman was involved in that too.
Read about it...

Is that the same Charter Amendment the city is trying to get around selling the ball fields at the North end of the city without voter approval?
this city is still corrupt
Not to mention, the Old Bridge Park which Les Evans arranged with then Mayor Rodney Romano and the City Commisioners to list the city owned waterfront property with some unproductive lots along the railroad tracks to be listed as surplus property and having little value to the citizens, when in reality that valuable piece of Intracoastal property was slated to be sold to Les Evans who wanted it to build high rise condominiums on it, at a hefty personal profit fir himself, and he promised to give the public a 10 ' footpath to walk down to see a patch of the water. How generous. He was more generous though to the City Commissioners and their friends who worked for the Pier group Real Estate company to whom he had promised the exclusive listing. In a rare instance of David meets Goliath, the plebiscite of Lake Worth managed to deter the machinations of this Palm Beach real estate mogul and to this day the Intracoastal property remains in the hands of the public at large. HURRAH!
@11:36--thanks for this.
There are many more Les Evans stories in Lake Worth. Please share them.
you can tell all the stories you want about the les evens and scot maxwells but no one cares enough to listen
This whole city is corrupt. We will wait until the Scott Maxwells of the world get caught.
anony poster at 7:14, why wouldn't you be interested in corruption? You must be part of the wheeler dealers in our corrupt city. How much money have you gotten under the table?
I HAVE KNOWN LES EVANS FOR MORE THAN FIFTEEN YEARS AND I'VE HAD
BUSINESS DEALINGS WITH HIM, AS WELL. HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN COMPLETELY HONEST AND FORTHCOMING. HE IS AN HONEST MAN WHOSE ETHICS SHOULD BE A PROTOTYPE FOR ALL OF US. I WOULD VOUCH FOR HIS INTEGRITY AND CHARACTER
WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT. TO MALIGN SOMEONE WHO LIVES HIS LIFE TO THE STANDARD THAT LES DOES SICKENS ME.
@12:12--LOL.
It's a real shame he got arrested.
You will be able to testify in court re his "complete honesty".
I wonder why he has been charged with long term offenses that required a quarter of a million dollars to bond him out of jail if he is such a paragon of virtue.
Those of us who have been in Lake Worth since he claimed to be the rightful owner of Old Bridge Park, attempting to buy it for a song from citizens he viewed as suckers, are far less convinced of his honesty.
May he rest easy and long in lockup.
