Donald Trump on North Korea 1999

I would guess that everyone saw clips of this CNN clip from 1999 with Donald Trump. "In a 1999 interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, Donald Trump said he was concerned about North Korea's development of nuclear weapons and that the US shouldn't rule out any options, including a possible military strike, in order to keep Pyongyang in check." His opinion then and now has remained consistent.

Of course, the interview you're not playing is the one where he says he would "negotiate like crazy" with N. Korea before taking action.

Totally not consistent with his Twitter position today.

Also, I wonder if he still consider Americans "saps," as he calls us in this interview. I don't consider myself or my fellow Americans "saps." That's probably the way Russian or North Korea look at us.

H3e's always been consistent about negotiating everything. "Saps" is used because of every Tom, Dick and Harry nation taking advantage of the United States at every opportunity. You are looking at everything through the eyes of a liberal, progressive who is anti-everything Trump.
Not relevant here.

Sorry, I disagree. I don't think of my fellow Americans as "saps." We're patriots who hate tyranny. The U.S. is not taken advantage by other countries. That would make us weak and I also don't consider America as a weak country.

I don't think any real American should be degrading their country or their fellow Americans. Call me crazy, but I just don't think we should be agreeing with our enemies.

And once again, Trump's position today is not consistent with his prior position on N. Korea. I mean, you can say it is all you want, but that won't make it true.

Your opinion. And we have been consistently "saps" on the international stage.
And how do you know what Trump will do with North Korea? If Kim continues to goad the U.S., he is facing severe consequences.

No one is "degrading" their country. It is the politicians in office who have made drastic mistakes and concessions that have "degraded" the perception of the United States from some world powers. Trump will correct that.

To repeat, I'm not sure it became patriotic to call America a "sap" but I suppose that's where a certain part of the country is at when it comes to their patriotism. Not coincidentally, they think Putin is a "strong leader" and the North Korea dictator is a "smart cookie." Complimenting our enemies and criticizing America is all the rage for some Americans.

Lynn Anderson said...

He has not complimented "our enemies." He said that Putin was a strong leader among his people.

What I find offensive from you is questioning my patriotism or a "certain part of the country when it comes to their patriotism."

What I also find offensive is a certain segment always protesting such as the Womens' march in Washington as an example and showing ZERO patriotism and even being led by a known Muslim woman with terrorist inclinations.

It's outrageous. And I date you to comment under your real name.

And one more thing--in the NBC interview, he said to negotiate first. This has always been his policy as a layman and now as president.

I don't see anybody lining up at the Army Recruitment Office. Talk is Cheap!

This is a debate that is going nowhere. It's all politics. Why don't you Demorats go somewhere else?

Anonymous said...

If the Democrats go somewhere else, it won't be a debate.

Anony above about enlisting, what does that have to do with this? FY 2017 was 1,281,900 people enlisted with an additional 801,200 people in the seven reserve components. Do you think we would need people to enlist to bomb the shit out of NK?

Anonymous said...

You think that the rest of the world is going to let us do that. Check out the number of troops China has recently put on the border. Back in the day, when America was threatened, you showed your patriotism by enlisting. Now, you're happy to leave it to the Mexicans. Are you ready for a world war. If the word Enlist shakes you up, what will you do if they bring back the draft. Then some idiot can thank you for your service.

Lynn Anderson said...

Leave it to the Mexicans? All they can do is cross our border illegally and live off our citizens. No one is really taking North Korea that seriously but it is developing weapons that can reach Washington D.C. that has to be stopped. Who knows what a nut case will do like Kim Jong-un. If it results in a "war" it will be the shortest one in history. We don't need to draft anyone.

I don't know who the idiot is mouthing out up there but they suck.yes trump did say talk to n.korea then take action.its just like talking to you dems you can only do it so long then you realize you are talking to a brick wall that has not a brain one.i always said id talk to the dems but you cant do that when no one listens.all they do is attack everything anyone brings up.makes me wonder if you are a legal.and the draft would give young people some self worth and you know that

My husband and my brother fought for this country. Can any of you ladies say the same?

Lynn Anderson said...

Can "any of your ladies" say the same? How do you know that everyone posting here is a woman?

Anyway, to answer your question, my brother served in the Army and was a graduate of The Citadel during the Vietnam War.

That's not really the same as being on the ground now, is it?

Lynn Anderson said...

Don't understand your comment...what ever is your problem? I said he was in the Army during Vietnam. That was a war I believe.
Do you just like to bust balls?
