Defending People's Rights

This was written by one of our friends from Florida Hometown Democracy. Even though we lost that vote, we are still standing up for principles in which we believe, whether here in Lake Worth, Daytona Beach or every city within the State of Florida--

Samsula decision favored residents

I am writing about the Volusia County Council's vote to reject the asphalt plant in Samsula, and lawyer Robert Harding's comment about "pressure of the yellow shirts."

I would like to remind Mr. Harding that those yellow shirts are people. And those people own property, pay taxes, elect their representatives, and support the Samsula comprehensive local plan. Their "pressure" is to maintain their property values and community lifestyle, unlike the "pressure" from a lawyer who gets paid to argue his client's case.

No matter what color shirt someone wears, in America they have every right to stand up for their beliefs — and win.
