Muslim Mosque near 911 Site

Wikipedia: "The death toll of the attacks was 2,995, including the 19 hijackers. The overwhelming majority of casualties were civilians, including nationals of over 70 countries."

President Obama recently said that he supports the construction of a mosque near Ground Zero in New York, saying that opposing the project is at odds with American values. At a White House ceremony marking the traditional breaking of the daily Ramadan fast he said, "Let me be clear, as a citizen and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances."

The very next day President Obama backed off and said, "Yes, Muslims have that right but that doesn't mean it is the right thing for them to do." Newt Gingrich said, "Nazis don't have the right to put up a sign next to the Holocaust Museum in Washington; We would never accept the Japanese putting up a site next to Pearl Harbor. There's no reason for us to accept a mosque next to the World Trade Center."

According to the new survey out by CNN, which overall is biased in the way the questions are structured and known to side with Democrats more often than Republicans, nearly 70 percent of all Americans oppose the controversial plan to build the mosque just blocks away from the 911 site. 29 percent favor the construction.
