Crime in Lake Worth is higher in the south end...Problems include:
- Significant gang presence with more than 30 documented gang affiliations.
- A grave proportion of drug dependence and the presence of more than 200 sober home facilities. Huge Opioid Crisis.
- A vulnerable homeless population.
- Numerous undocumented immigrants.
PBSO received a grant in October 2019 by the Department of Justice. The funding will be used during the next 36 months.
Lake Worth Beach was ranked the 31st most dangerous city in the U.S. in 2017 with a violent crime rate far exceeding the national average, according to Neighborhood Scout.

With the budget, put Drone Patrols flying above the bad neighborhoods, with police staff in office reviewing footage flagged by AI for suspicious behavior..24/7. When criminal actions are spotted, redirect several drones to follow the offender at multiple unique vantage points until police units catch up with and apprehend the criminal(s).
Get a meeting with some top prosecutors and criminal judges on what could be done to keep the bad actors in jail for much longer....on multiple offenses, or with other criteria that would allow increased severity of punishment. This would be easy to arrange, if enough residents wanted this, and if the town government wanted this as well.
Even without facial recognition or other niceties, the Drones could look for suspicious activity in bad neighborhoods, and patrols in the area could be directed there, getting the most bang for our patrol buck....cars get sent where they are needed, and don't need to be wasting time where nothing is happening. Sounds like way better policing to me.
