Lake Worth – City of Lake Worth Mayor and Leisure Services Asst Director to receive prestigious “Sauna Bucket Award”.

On June 24, 2017 the City of Lake Worth Mayor, Pam Triolo, along with Leisure Services Assistant Director, Lauren Bennett, will receive the prestigious “Sauna Bucket Award” from the president of the Midnight Sun Festival, Tom Kuutti, for their continued friendship to the Finnish American community. The award ceremony will be held at the American Finnish Club Midsummer Bonfire.

With 1,026 people claiming Finn descent in 2000, Lake Worth has the second largest Finnish diaspora as a percentage of total population in the world. The Midnight Sun Festival celebrates Lake Worth’s rich Finnish heritage. The event has been hosted annually since 1983 in the City of Lake Worth and has become famous for its “Wife Carrying Contest”.

Mayor Triolo indicates that, “This award is a reflection of the strong relationship the City of Lake Worth has with Finland. I am heading to our Finnish sister City, Lappeenranta, and I plan to use this sauna bucket in a traditional sauna in Finland! “

The government-watchdog group Judicial Watch announced Monday the NSC had denied its Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA, request for documents related to President Obama’s National Security Adviser Susan Rice’s alleged unmasking of the “identities of any U.S. citizens associated with the Trump presidential campaign or transition team.”

Last night Banyan Printing was recognized by Mayor Pam Triolo for its 40th year in Lake Worth. Starting out on Dixie highway in a 1200 square foot space and three employees, it now houses its business at 1937 10th Avenue North occupying 10,000 square feet and 15 employees, most of whom were there last night.

The Russian collusion does not involve Republicans

Is it just me, or is everyone missing the biggest, most mind-boggling part of the never-ending “Trump-Russia collusion” drama?

I’m talking about something more troubling than ex-FBI chief James Comey being one of the biggest leakers, or his refusing for months to inform Americans that Donald Trump was never under FBI investigation – while capitulating to Obama AG Loretta Lynch’s demand that he hide the fact that Hillary Clinton was under investigation. I’m talking about something more absurd than an investigation lasting almost a year – entirely without evidence of a crime!

Life in our times

Within a single year the world has experienced a 61% increase in terrorist attacks, according to the 2014 edition of The Global Terrorism Index from the Institute for Economics & Peace. Now we are witnessing these evil cowards plowing into innocent people as they walk on sidewalks.

The IEP defines terrorism as "the threatened or actual use of illegal force and violence by a non-state actor to attain a political, economic, religious or social goal through fear, coercion, or intimidation." [Business Insider]

Syria is the least peaceful country as well as the most unstable and now Russia is threatening the United States in its attack on  ISIS  The U.S. Central command said:  “The Coalition’s mission is to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria. The Coalition does not seek to fight Syrian regime, Russian, or pro-regime forces partnered with them, but will not hesitate to defend Coalition or partner forces from any threat."

Tonight, Resolution 26-2017 will be voted on to allow the public to speak, changing the time limit for public comment from two minutes to three minutes during Public Participation of Non-Agendaed items.

I remember how irritated I was when years ago Jeff Clemens changed it from three  minutes to two but now am used to it. There are times when two minutes are two minutes too long for some people..

However, since the city is putting more and more items on the Consent Agenda (16 on this agenda), it seems fair to increase the amount of time for the public to speak. As Katie would say, "we are your bosses" and elected officials really need to listen to what we have to say.

Muslim organized crime clans in Germany

HIV Testing Day

At Tuesday might's commission meeting there will be proclamation declaring Jun 27, 2017 as HIV Testing Day.

According to the SunSentinel, Lake Worth is the city with the highest percentage of same-sex households in all of Florida. About 250 households, or 1.9%.  I thought the gay population was much higher in Lake Worth.


As 1.1 million people in the US are living with HIV, and 1 in 7 of them don't know it, the city of Lake Worth urges all residents of the city of Lake Worth, Florida, to be tested for HIV to know his/her status and to take part in other activities and observances designed to increase awareness and understanding of HIV/AIDS.

A person was flown to a trauma center early Monday after a shooting in the city’s south end.

The Palm Beach Post reports that the shooting took place at about 4 a.m. on the 1600 block of Railroad Avenue, near 15th Avenue South. One witness said she heard 10 to 15 shots fired.
