What we have seen over the last five years, post-COVID, is that local governments have taken their budgets and expanded them greatly,” Ingoglia stated.

According to the CFO, the general fund budgets for these local governments, which are funded by property taxes, have gone up on average between 60% - 120%.

Furthermore, he argued that during the COVID-19 pandemic, many of these governments used federal funds to greatly expand their scope and — in some cases — grant “egregious raises” to employees.

And then, thanks to the flood of new residents coming into the state, these governments were able to accrue even more tax revenue, which allowed them to keep up their spending, Blaise claimed.

“When you go back pre-COVID, and you start factoring in inflation and population growth, those budgets should not have exploded anywhere near where they’re exploding right now,” he added.

Justice Gorsuch calls out lower courts for ignoring SCOTUS decisions, noting this is the "third time in a matter of weeks" they have had to intervene.

As an example--

In a 7-2 decision, the Supreme Court blocked in July a district court judge's attempt to circumvent an order allowing the Trump administration to resume third-country deportations. Even Justice Elena Kagan, who dissented from the original decision, sided with the conservative justices to enforce the order.

"I do not see how a district court can compel compliance with an order that this Court has stayed," she wrote.

Debt-Deficit Picture Is Now $1 Trillion Better Than Congressional Budget Office Thought

Tariffs “will reduce total deficits by $4.0 trillion altogether,” CBO says

The Congressional Budget Office, whose gloomy view of the long-term federal budget picture skewed public debate over the One Big Beautiful Bill, issued a trillion-dollar revision.

It did so on a Friday afternoon (okay, 11:45 on on Friday morning) in the summer during Congress’s August recess, on a day when economic news was dominated by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s Jackson Hole self-satisfied tribute to his own supposed “success in bringing down inflation without a sharp increase in unemployment.”

Back on June 4, when Congress was debating the One Big Beautiful Bill amid hotly contested estimates of its fiscal impact (see, “How ‘Big’ Is the One Big Beautiful Bill?” May 30, 2025), the CBO estimated the effect of the tariffs at a “$2.5 trillion decrease in primary deficits and $0.5 trillion reduction in interest outlays.”

Now that it’s mid-August, about 10 weeks later, CBO has a revised estimate: “We project that increases in tariffs implemented during the period from January 6, 2025, to August 19 will decrease primary deficits (which exclude net outlays for interest) by $3.3 trillion if the higher tariffs persist for the 2025‒2035 period.

By reducing the need for federal borrowing, those tariff collections will also reduce federal outlays for interest by an additional $0.7 trillion. As a result, the changes in tariffs will reduce total deficits by $4.0 trillion altogether.”

That’s a trillion dollar swing—to $4 trillion from $3 trillion—from June 4 to August 22.

Hillary Clinton slapped with ethics complaint over her involvement in perpetuating the Russiagate scandal against President Trump

Twice-failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton could be in jeopardy of losing her license to practice law after an ethics complaint was filed against her in Arkansas, Fox News reported.

The organization Democracy Restored is going after the former Secretary of State because of her role in perpetuating the Russiagate scandal against President Donald Trump.

The complaint published on Wednesday asks the Arkansas Bar Association to make a "formal review of the conduct of Hillary Rodham Clinton, Esq., a licensed attorney in the State of Arkansas, in connection with her actions during the 2016 presidential campaign."

The filing cites the Arkansas Rules of Professional Conduct and asserts she violated the rules against "Dishonesty" and "Prejudice to the Administration of Justice."

DHS Opens New ICE Detention Center in Nebraska

The Trump administration is opening its third version of the “Alligator Alcatraz” state-run migrant detention center in Nebraska — this one dubbed the “Cornhusker clink.”

“Thanks to Governor Pillen for his partnership to help remove the worst of the worst out of our country. If you are in America illegally, you could find yourself in Nebraska’s Cornhusker Clink,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement.

The new facility’s opening is all part of the administration’s push to massively expand ICE detention capacity with a goal of holding 100,000 illegal migrants at a single time.

The Trump administration has already opened the doors to “Alligator Alcatraz,” a 2,000-bed detention center in the heart of Florida’s Everglades surrounded by alligators and pythons, and the “Speedway Slammer,” a 1,000-bed space at the Miami Correctional Facility, near Bunker Hill, Ind., in the Grissom Joint Air Reserve Base.

On Sunday, the “Lonestar Lockup” mega-facility opened at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas — with capacity for 1,000 beds and the ability to add 4,000 more.

FBI Warns of Russian Cyber Hackers Targeting Critical US Infrastructure

Russian hackers have been caught accessing the computer networks of critical U.S. infrastructure

For some of you out there who believe Putin and Russia is not our enemy:

The FBI warned the public on Aug. 20 that Russian hackers had breached computer systems at manufacturing plants, power grids, water treatment facilities, and other critical infrastructure in the United States.

Hackers tied to Russia’s Federal Security Service were caught by the FBI using cyberattacks to get into computer networks targeting a wide range of critical infrastructure and other organizations in the United States and across the world.

By gaining access to the devices over the past year, the hackers were able to steal configuration files for thousands of networking devices associated with U.S. entities across critical infrastructure sectors, the FBI said.

The hackers also used the unauthorized access to look around and collect intelligence in their victims’ networks, which revealed their interest in protocols and applications in control systems.

"Americans may know more about the crimes committed by deceased child sex trafficker and liberal financier Jeffrey Epstein, including possible associates, after the Justice Department turned over documents on the federal case against him following a congressional subpoena.

U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-KY) announced in a statement the Justice Department informed the Committee it will begin providing Epstein-related records.

“There are many records in DOJ’s custody, and it will take the Department time to produce all the records and ensure the identification of victims and any child sexual abuse material are redacted,” said Comer.

Comer issued an Aug. 5 subpoena to the Justice Department for records related to Epstein.

The same day, he also issued deposition subpoenas to Bill and Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, Robert Mueller, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales for testimony related to horrific crimes perpetrated by Jeffrey Epstein,” the statement notes, after an Oversight subcommittee approved motions to “subpoena these records and compel witness testimony.” [AmericanLibertyNews]

The judge also ordered that some other aspects of the facility be dismantled as current detainees are moved elsewhere

Yesterday U.S. Judge Kathleen Williams, nominated by Barack Obama, a lower court judge in the District Court for the Southern District of Florida, sided with environmental groups who had brought suit against the facility, saying that it endangers the Everglades and its wildlife.

The federal judge ordered President Donald Trump and the state of Florida to stop sending detainees to “Alligator Alcatraz,” a detention center for illegal immigrants in the Everglades, and barred new construction there.

In a court order, Williams said that authorities cannot “[bring] any additional persons onto the site who were not already being detained at the site at the time of this Order going into effect.”

Williams also ordered that some other aspects of the facility be dismantled as current detainees are moved elsewhere.

Specifically, authorities have been banned from “installing any additional industrial-style lighting ... or doing any paving, filling, excavating, or fencing, or ... any other site expansion,” Williams wrote.

The ruling also ordered the removal of some equipment and supporting infrastructure at the remote facility.

The order said that authorities must remove “all generators, gas, sewage, and other waste and waste receptacles that were installed to support this project,” within 60 days. Some fencing and additional lighting that had already been installed must also be removed.

The State of Florida has appealed.

Appeals court kills wild half-billion dollar penalty against President Trump

Letitia James had orchestrated 'fraud' claims and partisan New York judge delivered draconian verdict. NY appeals court throws out $500M penalty against Trump in Letitia James civil case.

A panel of appeals court judges, only a day after being accused publicly of "navel-gazing" for their lengthy delay in giving President Donald Trump relief from what has been confirmed as a politicized and biased "fraud" penalty of half a billion dollars, has canceled that threat.

The Washington Examiner confirmed the five-judge panel of the appellate division in New York threw out the judgment delivered by Arthur Engoron, a judge at the entry court level who has been openly derisive of Trump.

The ruling said his judgment was unconstitutional and violated the U.S. Constitution, which bars excessive fines.
