Republican NY AG hopeful brands Letitia James a political hack at debate
Republican Saritha Komatireddy labeled New York Attorney General Letitia James a “political hack” in their debate, charging that crime, homelessness, and fraud have festered while James chased national politics.Saritha Komatireddy, Indian American, opened fire on incumbent Letitia James during Thursday’s debate for New York attorney general, telling voters the state no longer has a real prosecutor in the job.
The Republican challenger said James has spent eight years turning the office into a political vehicle instead of keeping New Yorkers safe.
Breitbart News reported Komatireddy’s sharpest line of the night:
"That’s because New Yorkers, you do not have an attorney general right now. For the last eight years, you’ve had a political hack sitting in the chair, using our taxpayer money for her political purposes."Komatireddy framed her own campaign in blunt terms. She said she is running because New York is not safe under James.
She told the audience crime is up, homelessness is up, and the state ranks worst in the nation at prosecuting fraud. She added that New Yorkers need a prosecutor as attorney general, not a politician chasing cameras.
