Golf Cart caught fire in Lake Worth
Read about it... and the golf cart that caught fire on Industrial Street.
Daniel Pearl remembered
It wasn't that long ago that Daniel Pearl was beheaded by Al Qaeda. It seems like it was only yesterday that we were reading about this atrocious/disgusting atrocity. There are no words to describe it, really. Today, is the anniversary of his death and one not to be forgotten.
The Daniel Pearl Foundation was formed in 2002 in memory of Pearl, to promote the ideals that inspired his life and work.

City Commission places a $1.5 million item on Consent Agenda at last minute
Going against its own rules, the present commission allowed an item to be placed on the Consent Agenda WITH NO DISCUSSION that involved $1.5 million in debentures for the CRA.
My backup of the meeting did not show any explanation for these bonds and I had to appeal to the City Clerk.
Read the back-up
From the Back-up
Last year, the City approved the issuance of the CRA’s debenture in the principal amount not to exceed $4,000,000.00 to provide funds for the acquisition of property and other CRA projects. The $1,500,000 was an additional amount needed by the CRA to acquire some larger parcels with higher asking prices and for other projects. On January 23, 2019, the interest rate will be fixed at 4.696%. It will mature on December 23, 2026.
How is it secured?
The Debenture shall be payable from and secured solely by the CRA's redevelopment trust fund and the increment revenue (as defined in Section 163.340(22), Florida Statutes, required to be deposited therein.
What properties are they looking at--where are they located--what do they want to do with them--how much Tif money are they getting this year? And last, but not least, if the CRA defaults guess who pays?

Schumer Surrender
In a high stakes, all-in poker hand with President Trump, Chuck Scummy blinks and folds. Game over! The government is running again

The only Russian collusion is right here--a stone throw away.
Everyone who's been around the city for awhile knows who Leslie Robert Evans is. If you don't, Read this... -- my blog of 2011.
Back then our city was up for grabs by developers...still is in some ways. Mr. Evans wanted to buy Causeway Park for development, now named Old Bridge Park. A Referendum was done, won at the polls, and it protects our parks from any kind of development or being sold without voter approval. This catapulted Marc Drautz into office back then, beating Rodney Romano in 2005 by 55.6% of the vote.
Now Les Evans's law firm is in the news. It has to do with RICO, fraud, forgeries and Russian immigrants. Apparently his law firm has been mentioned in a lawsuit for notarizing fake documents.

California: The Fu*ked up State
California to register illegal aliens to vote – automatically
We've written about this before but it should be brought up over and over again! The April Fools joke is on all the citizens of this country and the jokester is governor Jerry Brown, Democrat. What planet did he drop in from?Beginning April 1, every person who gets a California driver’s license will be automatically entitled to vote. At the moment, it is estimated that there are 2.6 million undocumented immigrants in California and now that this crazy governor has made it a Sanctuary state, can you even imagine how many more will be migrating there?

Quote of the Day -Richard Corcoran
"Last Tuesday marked the beginning of the 2018 legislative session. We got right to work on our conservative legislative agenda. In just the first week, the House passed important bills to:
• Ban ‘sanctuary cities’ and fine elected officials that refuse to enforce immigration law
• Ban legislators from becoming lobbyists for at least 6 years after leaving office – the toughest ban in the nation
• Make Florida’s ethics laws the toughest in the country
In the House we're about less talk and more action. Now we need our State Senate to get on board."
~ Richard Corcoran

Lake Worth City Commission gets it right!
This time, the Lake Worth City Commission had no reservations on what was the right vote.--
What about a person in our city trying to get zoning changes to have a small hotel with a bar and music in a residential neighborhood on South Palmway? Residents spoke out against it...their message was heard.
No way, said our commission.
The owner of the property was already approved for a Bed & Breakfast by Planning and Zoning but she wanted to go a big step forward with a hotel. Commissioner Hardy asked, “What if the hotel changes hands and someone is less scrupulous? There’s nothing to keep that from occurring. I don’t have confidence that if things got out of hand, we’d be able to reel it back in. I’m all for doing progressive things, but the payoff has to be huge.”
This owner already proved that her original request of a B&B just wasn't good enough.

Schumer Shutdown - A Costly Political Move
According to an estimate by Moody’s Analytics, the government shutdown in 2013 lasted 16 days and cost an estimated $20 billion.
We all know that Democrats love to spend money but this is ridiculous. How long will the Democrats screw around with this Budget because of illegal aliens and politics? DACA is a whole separate issue.
The alternative is approving a three-week spending bill to fund the government until February 8. Democrats are against that. Mitch McConnell stated that the Senate would vote on this stopgap at 1:00am Monday unless Democrats agreed to move up the vote.

Memorial for Barbara Jean
It was a beautiful tribute to our dear friend, Barbara Jean Weber today. Everyone at St. Andrews Church could relate to the words spoken by some of her close friends--about her grace, her spirituality, her kindness and love for all. She is the most unique and beautiful person I have ever known. R.I.P. Barbara.
