Thune stalling Trump's Agenda
John Thune Sends Senate Home for 37 Days, Schedules 11 Sessions to Block Recess Appointments
The Senate is heading into a 37-day recess. But the chamber will not simply close its doors and stay away from Washington.Senate Majority Leader John Thune has scheduled 11 pro forma sessions during the break. These brief sessions are expected to involve no votes, debates, or meaningful legislative work. Instead, a lone senator periodically opens the chamber, gavels in, and gavels out.
The Senate had its first session on Monday, August 10, at 10 a.m. Regular Senate business is set to resume on September 14.
The schedule includes the following pro forma sessions:
Monday, August 10, at 10:00 a.m.
Thursday, August 13, at 8:00 a.m.
Monday, August 17, at 1:30 p.m.
Thursday, August 20, at 11:30 a.m.
Monday, August 24, at 12:30 p.m.
Thursday, August 27, at 8:00 a.m.
Monday, August 31, at 11:30 a.m.
Tuesday, September 1, at 12:30 p.m.
Friday, September 4, at 10:00 a.m.
Tuesday, September 8, at 1:15 p.m.
Thursday, September 10, at 3:00 p.m.

The dates were confirmed by the official Senate floor schedule. On paper, the Senate is in recess. Procedurally, however, these brief meetings keep the chamber technically available to conduct business. Political parties use these brief meetings to stop the president from making temporary "recess appointments" to federal offices or judicial seats while Congress is away.
In other words, it's all bull and Trump views pro-forma blocks as a maneuver by the "swamp" to stall his agenda.

Cancel Senate August break and pass the Save Act
Trump demands Senate cancel August break until it passes stalled voting bill
President Donald Trump on Monday demanded that Senate Majority Leader John Thune cancel the chamber’s upcoming August break until senators pass a strict proof-of-citizenship voting bill, even as Republicans lack the votes to advance it.Trump has repeatedly urged Thune to scrap the legislative filibuster, which effectively sets a 60-vote threshold for most legislation in the 100-member Senate, or find another workaround to pass the voting bill, known as the SAVE America Act.
But Republicans hold only a 53-47 majority, and Thune has consistently said they don’t have the votes to pass the bill or change the rules to get around the filibuster.
“John Thune should not allow the United States Senate to ‘leave town’ until it passes The Save America Act or, far better still, TERMINATES THE FILIBUSTER,” Trump wrote on social media.

Karoline Leavitt Returned in Full Force and John Thune Is Not Happy About Getting Taken to the Woodshed
Leavitt Confirms What Trump Voters Already Suspected
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stood behind the podium Thursday and delivered a line eight months of Senate inaction had been building toward."His patience is running out," Leavitt told reporters. She said Trump wants the SAVE America Act – the citizenship and voter ID law that would end the Democrat cheating machine for good – passed before the August recess.
The House has already done its job, passing versions of the bill more than once this year. The Senate has done nothing but stall.
Leavitt made the obvious point that Trump voters put Republicans in charge of both chambers of Congress, not just the Oval Office.
That is not a talking point.

Senate Parliamentarian
John Thune Told Trump No and Now the SAVE America Act Is Dead in the Senate
Democrats have been stealing elections for years – and Republicans finally had a bill to stop it.Now one Senate Republican is standing between Trump and the only law that could fix it.
Thune just went on Fox Business and told the country why proving you're a citizen before you vote will never become law – and he aimed the blame everywhere except the mirror.
Elizabeth MacDonough has been the Senate parliamentarian since 2012 – appointed by Harry Reid, kept in place by Mitch McConnell, and still ruling against Republicans today.
Trump called her a "Radical Left Lunatic" this week and posted on Truth Social demanding Thune fire her immediately.
"Senate Majority Leader John Thune should immediately fire the Parliamentarian, who treats Republicans, and everything that they stand for, horribly!" Trump wrote.
He's not wrong.
MacDonough spent the past year picking apart Trump's agenda piece by piece.

James Woods sounds off on RINOS, John Thune, Democrats and Republicans
'Worthless piece of [bleep]': Actor James Woods torches Republican leader John Thune as 'treacherous rat'
'Fetterman has done more for the Republican platform than this weasel'
Actor James Woods, who is no stranger to American politics, is now shredding Senate Majority Leader John Thune as a "treacherous rat" and "worthless piece of s***."In a brief post on X, Woods summed up his thoughts about the South Dakota Republican, saying, "No Trump judges, no voter ID SAVE Act, 50 bills already passed by the house in limbo."
"Pardon my language, but this guy is a worthless piece of s***. He's worse than a grifter Democrat. Fetterman has done more for the Republican platform than this weasel. Treacherous rat."
The comments by Woods caught the attention of Jim Hoft at the Gateway Pundit, who noted: "Senator Thune will not even pass Voter ID to save the country – an issue that that has over 80% support from the public!"
"Who is this treacherous rat really working for? It's NOT the American people and it certainly IS NOT Republican voters. Calling Thune a 'treacherous rat' is being kind."
"I am a devout follower of President Trump, and as a registered Independent will continue to vote with Republicans when they stand behind this great President and act like Republicans again.
Democrats, the ragtag band of con artists and grifters that they are, manage to work together in lockstep, but getting Republicans to accomplish anything is like herding cats. It's absolutely infuriating."
