Tea Party Forum last night

Comment Up
Upper row: Aimee Carlson and Vote NO man
(someone told me it was her husband)
Col. Allen West
Bottom Row: Allen West campaign truck, Steven Rosenblum
and photo at reception

South Florida Tea Party, Inc. ("SFTP") is a non-partisan, non-profit social welfare organization dedicated to furthering the common good and general welfare of the people of the United States. South Florida Tea Party has not endorsed candidates for public office.

Ok, so that's an excerpt from their mission statement. I don't believe it! This particular organization was very much partisan and demonstrated that last night. Even the formal Agenda for their PB County Candidate Forum was predominantly (well over 90%) attended by Republican candidates.

It seems that a couple of people in the Vote NO group objected to my taking some photos at the reception. The Director in charge of the event came over and informed me that it was a private party and I would have to stop taking pics. I then told her that I had been invited. That didn't seem to impress her much either so I mentioned the First Amendment and free speech and all the jazz and then walked outside to continue holding our Amendment 4 banner.

Everett Wilkinson, state director of the South Florida Tea Party, came outside a short time later where we were standing to explain that they were a non-partisan group, etc., etc., etc. He was a pleasant fellow doing a little "damage control." I asked about the Vote NO Group and he said that they just "kicked them out."

A woman came up to us while we were standing on the sidewalk and asked us about the Amendment. As I was trying to explain it, an aggressive and rude dame, with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth, interrupted and said, "I know EVERYTHING about Amendment 4. If you vote it in, you will have to vote on ALL development." She never looked at me once. I told her she didn't know what she was talking about. Then a few Tea-Party people came out and she hugged them as if they were her long-lost friends.

I honestly don't know if these people LIE on purpose or if they have been so brainwashed that they actually believe the lies. But this is what we are dealing with: A well organized and highly funded campaign, almost to the point of obscenity, to defeat your right to vote who are using all Chamber of Commerce's and every other group out there to carry their distorted message.

The right to vote is a basic right and land-use changes should not be decided by a couple of compromised politicians.

Hello Lynn,
Let's get the true story on our Cadidate Forum. All candidates in Palm Beach County, Republicans and Democrats, were invited to participate in our forum. Also, please check your math. . . three of the 13 who attended were Democrats, hence 23% were Democrats.

Yes, I did ask you not to take pictures because it was making people uncomfortable and you had not requested permission to do so. Before I spoke with you, I had already asked the "No" people to move their campaign outside. They pointed you out to me, and I respectfully requested the same of you.

Thank you for complimenting us on our organization but I must dispute that we are "well funded". We collected just over $400 in donations and sold less than that in t-shirts -- so we weren't even close to covering our expenses last night. Our goal is not the fundraising but to help people make more educated voting decisions.

I hereby invite you to come to one of our meetings where we will discuss all of the amendments on the Nov ballot. However, please note that we will have expectations for mutual respect that each participant must adhere to. I hope that won't be a problem for you. If you would like to join us, please contact pam@southfloridateaparty.org.

Also, please void my invitation if you delete my message from your blog.

Sorry if you got the impression that I was calling you well funded. It is the Vote NO group that I refer to here.

All I did was take a couple of photos at the reception. We were not passing out literature in there nor did we have T-shirts or any other political material as the Vote NO Group did.

Please let me know when that meeting will be on the Amendments. I would love to attend.

N Palm Beach county-what a condescending little twit you are ! Mutual respect won't be "to much" for Lynn, but it apparently is for you, from reading your wonderful little passive /aggressive post ! So WHAT if Lynn was taking pictures! She didn't ASK PERMISSION?!? ALL HAIL THE REICH! HEIL HITLER !This, in SPITE of people like you ,is still a free country.I,like Lynn was a tea party member. Not now !Your group really has been infiltrated by the liars in the vote no camp. People like you who get a little taste of power and then feel the need to puke it up all over the rest of us make me sick! You are false people who will now NEVER get my support .Good for Lynn for telling everyone what your group is REALLY all about.Maybe if Lynn had been wearing a white hood she might have been more welcome in your group.

And P.S, "I hereby invite you to come to one of our meetings" ,,,just who in the hell do you think you are, anyway ? Lynn or anyone else can't come to a meeting unless YOU, the Lord high executioner, invite them ?!? You and my Chihuahua share the same delusions of greatness! You really have given the sane tea party members a black eye,and you owe Lynn a huge apology .If you don't quite understand what the word "apology" means, or how it applies to you, grab the nearest Websters .

Prior to this, my limited experiences were favorable. We went to the one in West Palm Beach where Vote NO and Vote YES were both there, I taking photos and both sides passing out its literature and waving signs...no problem. Who would have thought that just a few months later things would change?

I received a half-dozen e-mails on this Tea-Party experience, all in support of freedoms. This is one that I thought I would post:

I'm not at all bewildered. None of the people responsible for the financial crises went to jail for the same reason we need to get 4 through. Lincoln predicted the state of our republic:

I see in the future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of the war."
