So when serious questions emerge about whether a sitting member of Congress may have obtained that citizenship under false pretenses – and the response is to alter official records rather than answer the questions – every single American who played by the rules deserves to know what’s going on.

Staffers for Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) reportedly assisted her in changing her birth date on official records shortly after she began her first term in the U.S. House, according to a New York Post report.

Omar’s year of birth – which was changed in 2019 from 1981 to 1982 – is reportedly relevant to the current investigation into the congresswoman because of her account of when and how she obtained U.S. citizenship.

Take a moment with that. A congresswoman’s own staff reached out to an official state library and asked them to change her birth year – not a typo in a middle name, not a wrong district number – her year of birth. And they didn’t stop there.
