Ad Valorem Tax bills out on November 1

Ann Gannon, Tax Collector says,

The 2016 Property Tax Season is nearly here. We mail property tax bills on November 1. Property owners who do not receive a bill are still required to pay property tax. Visit our online payment center to view and pay your tax bill.

Remember, November is the busiest month at our offices. That’s why we suggest online payment for property and business taxes, motor vehicle, boat and mobile home registrations and the purchase of hunting and fishing licenses. Save the time and complete these transactions online.

Best regards,

Anne Gannon

Anne's statement is confusing. Does this mean that the Non-Ad Valorem bill is coming at a different time? Ad Valorem means tax. The other items in the total are not a tax. Generally the bills are combined.

If they're not a tax, what are they? On your property tax bill are taxes and non-valorem assessments.

I guess you could call them assessments, but they are not deductible on your IRS forms. Ad Valorem is the Latin word for tax. By definition, Non-Ad Valorem would not be a tax. Maybe it was just an oversight on her part, or maybe the Non-Ad Valorem part is coming later.

You tax bill consists of property taxes that include school tax, South Florida Water Management District, Chilrdrn's Services Council, etc.

Our non-advalorem assessments in Lake Worth are for solid waste and stormwater.

If you are asking about the bond, that can't possibly appear until next year if it passes on November 8. that's the way I'm looking at it.

That is what I was wondering about. Thanks!
