Marco Rubio on Florida's Algae Disaster

Comment Up

“If I believed that the sugar industry was the only contributor to this, then we would do everything possible to address that immediately, but there are multiple contributors to this and it’s not just agriculture. It isn’t. It isn’t. There are localized sources and they have been working hard here to deal with that and it’s difficult to do, I know, because it’s costly, but that’s a reality.

Ninety percent of the water in Lake Okeechobee does not come from the South, it comes from the North, from the Kissimmee basin. It comes down and it’s bringing nutrients from cattle operations, but also from population centers. And now it’s 90 percent of the water that’s in the lake. The lake itself has deep, embedded historical sediment on the bottom that also has nutrients in it. So there’s not just one causation here, that’s what I mean, there are multiple causes to this."

Somebody should tell Marco, we don't need the government to tell us it's a problem. We need the government to look for a solution. That's why we pay them. If the government is just going to throw their hands up and do nothing, maybe we need a new government. So whatever percentage Marco's friend big sugar is responsible for, let them step up and contribute to the solution. Maybe some other elected official has a friend that will do their small part. This is a real problem folks! Without Big Sugar, Marco would be a bus boy at "The Biltmore."

You liberals are the most insulting people around...thank God I no longer have to be a member of that party.
Marco paid for his education himself--nothing was handed to him liek all you socialist want now--

JD, University of Miami, 1996
BS, University of Florida, 1993

Senator, United States Senate, 2011-present
Representative, Florida State House of Representatives, District 111, 2000-2008
Speaker, Florida State House of Representatives, 2006-2008
Majority Leader, Florida State House of Representatives, 2003-2006
Commissioner, City of West Miami, 1998-2000

So, perhaps you are familiar with the qualifications of being a minimum wage worker, but Marco epotomizes the American Dream. You, on the other hand, I'm not sure about.
