Snook Islands turning into ‘Gilligan’s Island’ as boat graveyard threatens sensitive natural area
THE SNOOK ISLANDS in Lake Worth Beach are supposed to be an ecological gem of manmade mangroves, oyster reefs and wildlife along the Lake Worth Lagoon’s downtown shoreline.“Gilligan’s Island” might be a more appropriate name these days.
A small but growing graveyard of boat wrecks has littered parts of the watery, environmentally-sensitive ecosystem over the past few months, within view of a public boardwalk and popular kayak trails.
The biggest eyesore: the hulking remains of “Sweet Emotion,” a 33-foot Viking yacht precariously anchored since June 24 on rocks next to mangrove islands that are home to protected shorebirds.

Is Lake Worth too lazy, or just too stupid to tow them away?
Nothing gets done by itself. The way things are going, I will not be voting for the current slate of Commissioners.
Just like the Candidates for the August Primary. Still in place all over. Is it my job to call the candidates? This is something the city should just automatically do. TAKE THEM DOWN. Charge the candidate for leaving them there!

Lake Worth Beach had this problem a long time ago with abandoned boats in the lagoon and I believe it was a nightmare to even get one of them out no salvage company wanted to do it they eventually had to call I can't remember the name of the company but it turned into a nightmare so they should start enforcing nobody can live on a boat that's marooned on in the lagoon that be the start of it and then starts red tagging them and then start hauling them out get a salvage team in there and start hauling them out and charge them they got to be
At least get rid of the ones no one is living in for a start.

we did have this problem what a mess.state wouldnt do it till we paid salvage.salvage couldnt do it till found the owners.it sounds simple but its not.we found out the harbor master is the coast guard.then the water district is involved.not just here .up and down the shores

The entire area under the west side of the bridge is under par could use a redo. Shame whoever is responsible for the docks it looks like a trashy trailer park, go look, suppose that’s the standard of this city?
