Flushing toilets if electric power is down

For all of you who have been wondering whether you can flush toilets when you lose power, here is the answer.

I posed the following question to our Utility Director yesterday:
Hi Mr. Borsch— If we lose power, will I still be able to flush toilets?

Mr. Borsch's reply:
Lynn my assumption was yes because all of the water and lift stations have their own back up generation. You can see below it was confirmed with Brian Shields the water Director. Please understand that once the fuel runs out on the back up generators we will need to either refuel or have the electric operational. Stay safe Lynn and if I can help please let me know.
