A morning at our PBSO headquarters

Comment Up

Had an interesting morning at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's facility on Gun Club Road.

The Main Detention Center is located at the Sheriff's Headquarters Complex on Gun Club Road in West Palm Beach, Florida. It has an area of 835,000 square feet and is situated on a 52.8 acre parcel of land. I have never seen so many cars in one place. The total bed capacity of this correctional facility is 2,156, according to the PBSO website. Those who have been recently arrested are taken to that facility and appear, if they so choose, before a judge at the facility who will hear brief takes on the alleged crime and set a bail before the arrested individual appears before the court.

I was there for a specific case involving a man who stole one of our resident's credit cards after it was accidentally dropped on the floor at Publix.  This man tried to use the credit card by attempting to charge $500 and then did manage to charge $250 on the stolen card. He was arrested and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail.

After sitting there for about one hour listening to other cases that involved domestic violence, pedophilia, robbery, theft, etc from every low life imaginable, the perp's name was called. He decided to waive a hearing before this judge and just remain in jail until his case comes up.  He will get 3 squares a day and a bed and a roof over his head.  You see, he is one of the homeless in Lake Worth and he is a criminal.

Why did you have to go there? How does someone losing a credit card require YOU to go to PBSO?
The guy didn't actually steal the guard like you lie about. He found it and tried to use it. That's different than stealing it. But you are obtuse and probably are incapable of understanding the difference.

Although there is nothing that compels me to answer your charged up allegations and personal attack, I was asked to go by the victim.
Identity theft occurs when someone uses another's personally identifying information, like their name, identifying number, or credit card number, without their permission, to commit fraud or other crimes. It is stealing someone's property and ID. A Synonym of theft is stealing. How obtuse can you get, anonymous? He found something that did not belong to him and he attempted to use it--stealing.

It's really a good thing you post under anonymous.

I am the person Lynn helped and I am grateful she was kind enough to go with me to the courthouse. The homeless criminal who attempted to use my credit card was identified on video in four businesses downtown. Each incident is a crime. According to the Attorney General’s office, this person has a police record of fifteen prior arrests including two felonies. Although initially hesitant to press charges, the detective I spoke with changed my mind. He told me the homeless in Lake Worth steal everything they can get their hands on and panhandle with sad stories. But, he suggested I think again about feeling sorry for them. They use the city’s public restroom facilities to wash and the city’s electric to charge their cell phones and toothbrushes, they have girl friends, there are pregnancies and they have absolutely no desire to work or have a place of appropriate shelter. The detective explained it this way. Shelters for the homeless have rules and they do not want rules. They do not want help and they do not want to change. They like things just the way they are. He finished by saying the homeless are out of control and the police department is just as frustrated as the public by their refusal to leave and their refusal for help. In the meantime, our city residents and downtown businesses have to endure this disgraceful behavior for how long?

That first poster is really weird. I guess he just loves to hear himself talk. Bullies, we have way too many of them with nothing better to do I guess. Thanks Lynn for taking the time to find out and investigate. I may not always agree with your opinion (most often I do) but that's why your blog is so successful. it gives people something to think about.

Lynn...You go girl! A very enlightening post.

I think anon 4:11 has a personal grudge against you. I'm surprised you allowed such a comment.

The last two lines of your post made me think. It is not right that he is fed and housed as "punishment", but what else can be done? Any ideas?
