Teachers are seeing Red

Comment Up
Senate Bill 6 passed on a 21 - 17 vote. All Democrats as well as 4 Republicans voted against it.

This Bill ties teacher's pay directly to student performance. Unions, of course, are against this Bill and it is foreseen that Governor Crist will veto it due to his upcoming election.

Effective teaching is the goal in Florida. The Bill will mean more money for teachers whose students actually learn something.

This bill makes no sense. The children who need the most help in our school system will not get it. What teacher would want to go to a lower performing school ? I am no fan of the bloated and self-serving teachers union, but this bill is going to hurt the children. They are the helpless pawns who are once again caught between Tallahassee and the unions.
