Thank God for PBSO. We have one of the lowest crime rates in the county. These stats prove it. Thanks Lynn for pointing out the good news.

You are welcomed...but tell me, how did the Sheriff PREVENT these crimes? $14 million dollars!! Hope you were not one of the victims.

I know you've painted yourself into a corner Lynn and refuse to see the light, but I'll comment anyway.
The PBSO contract is 13 million, not 14 million.
Would you rather "save" 3 million and have the crime rate 10 times what it is now, with a couple of homicides and drive bys thrown in for good measure?

The PBSO contract was originally set at $13,851,472 plus annual increases not to exceed 7% in 2011. Stanton negotiated down and the PBSO eliminated 3 lieutenants, 1 sergeant, 3 deputies and 2 communication officers saving the city $1,221,206. We now have 124 assigned to Lake Worth.

The above amount that we pay does not include 1) city council meetings 2) Board and Committee meetings and 3) special events sponsored by the City. The $13+ million is much, much more and we are charged over-time rate for the above mentioned. We also have to take into consideration all the other costs relative to the building. All of the ancillary services we already got anyway.

As far as the crime rate being 10x what it is now or even more than what it is now, is an assumption based on nothing but a figment of your only argument and hysteria. Crime is down across the State and there are more cities without PBSO than with. Give me an argument based on a professional projection.

In the meantime, I will debate the subject off this blog. Just contact me.

Same people. Different uniform. Guess it all comes down to management. Why no anger at the people who got us into this mess in the first place-Retha Lowe,Dave Vespo and Jeff Clemens?
