Sandhill Crane - Another reason for Amendment 4

Comment Up

This is the first time I have seen a Sandhill Crane and it was spotted in the western part of Palm Beach County while campaigning yesterday for Amendment 4.

There are only about 5,000 Florida Sandhill Cranes. They are threatened the most by habitat destruction and encroaching development. The Sandhill is protected here in Florida and if killed, carries a very high monetary penalty.

Another reason why we need Amendment 4.

This is the very reason I live in the Acreage. The wildlife (and the stars).

I get blue herons, egrets, red cardinals (in the winter), adorable tree frogs, honking pig frogs (my summer favorite), a boatload of a variety of lizards, bufo toads (which I have trained the animals to stay away from - too many of those), a variety of snakes and stars that will knock your socks off.

If more stopped and smelled the roses they could appreciate the beauty in nature and the gift we have been given.

Surely we are intelligent enough to find a balance between man and nature, unless, of course, money gets in the way.

Then all bets are off.
